Job Summary: Vertex Pharmaceuticals is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Research Associate to join our Drug Product Process Development team for Cell Therapies within the Biopharmaceutical Sciences and Manufacturing Operations (BSMO) organization. The successful candidate will contribute to the development, optimization, and scale-up of drug product manufacturing processes for cell-based therapies. This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge therapies that have the potential to transform the lives of patients with serious diseases.

 

This is a 6 month contract with the chance to extend. 

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the development, optimization, and scale-up of drug product manufacturing processes for cell therapies, including formulation, fill/finish, and cryopreservation.
  • Conduct laboratory experiments to evaluate and improve drug product processes, ensuring alignment with quality and regulatory standards.
  • Perform data analysis and document experimental results in technical reports and presentations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support technology transfer and process implementation.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving technical challenges during process development and manufacturing.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Biochemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related field with 2-4 years of relevant experience; or M.S. with 0-2 years of experience.
  • Familiarity with process development and scale-up for cell-based therapies.
  • Experience with cell culturing and aseptic processing.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience in laboratory techniques related to cell therapy drug product development, such as formulation, fill/finish, and cryopreservation.
  • Knowledge of analytical methods for cell therapy products.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques, including statistical analysis and design of experiments (DOE).

 

Pay Range

$38-$42/HR
