Cell Culture and Encapsulation Technician (contract) 21765

Vertex Pharmaceuticals is looking for a Cell Culture and Encapsulation Technician for their Device Biology and Encapsulation, Translational Engineering Group.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Aseptic sample processing
• Aseptic biological and chemical reagent preparation
• Sterilization and preparation of lab equipment
• Use analytical methods to carry out sample analyses
• including but not limited to cell counting, weighing
• Cell and tissue characterization assays : microscopy, metabolic, viability etc.
• ELN (electronic lab notebook) recording and data analyses with supervision
• Prepare samples for histological processing- fixative, ethanol, pbs processing
• Sending out samples and tracking
• Follow protocols and contribute to cell culture work
• Assist with day-to-day lab operations including safety, cleaning, maintenance, ordering, tracking supplies.
• Perform other laboratory duties as instructed.

Scientific and Non-Scientific Skills:  

• Aseptic cell culture experience is required
• Hands on laboratory research experience: preparing reagents, carrying out protocols
• Analytical skills to calculate reagent concentrations and dilutions
• Good organizational skills
• Maintenance of excellent sampling and testing records
• Ability to work independently, manage priorities and maintain timelines for multiple projects
• Strong attention to detail, proactive and can rapidly adapt to change
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.

Education and Experience:

• HSD+ 4 years, Associates + 2 years, Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering or related discipline and 0+ years of experience in GMP pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical industry at least 1 year lab experience

$25-$33/hr
