Job Description

The Analytical Development -Testing, Operations and Automation team (AD- TOA) within Biopharmaceutical Science, manufacturing and operations -CGT CMC is seeking an individual for 6 months contract who is able to:


• Work on a Monday-Friday schedule and flexible to work in both locations of Vertex buildings within 1.5-mile distance when required
• Flexible working with different schedules when required and different teams when needed.
• Carry out routine cell culture both manually and automated of primary cells, stem cells and other mammalian cell lines to support analytical testing for Vertex’s preclinical, clinical and next generation cell therapy programs.
• Provide analytical testing support for cell-based assays like cell count and viability assay, high throughput fluorescence cell-based assay and flow cytometry assay using automation tools like liquid handlers, flow cytometers and high content microscopes.
• Provide analytical testing support for molecular based assay like PCR, ddPCR, RT-qPCR, etc.
• Maintain excellent written documentation of completed experiment (ELN, LIMS) and maintain knowledge share systems (MS-Teams and share point).
• Be a strong team player contributing to group priorities and deliverables and great communication skills.
• Manage and track inventory for sample and reagents as needed for several projects.
• Participate in a data management activity to ensure timely completion of deliverables.
• Ability to follow and understand SOPs and review protocols or reports as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Education level and/or relevant experience

Required:
BS or MS in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Cell & Molecular Biology, or related discipline with BS 0-2 years experience or MS with 0 years experience.

 

Preferred:
Relevant industry experience in the biologics or cell and gene therapy space.

 

Knowledge and skills

Required:

• Possesses excellent pipetting skills.
• Strong knowledge of aseptic cell culture technique.
• Has experience culturing multiple different cell types including but not limited to stem cells, primary cells and cell lines.
• Has experience performing high throughput cell based assays including but not limited to cell count and cell viability assay, fluorescence microscopy assays and flow cytometry assays.
• Ability to follow SOPs and carry out cell culture assays.
• Has excellent communication skills and effectively coordinates work across different teams
• Possess standard lab safety regulations and work in GLP like laboratory environment

 

Preferred:

• Industry experience in cell and gene therapy space.
• Experience in PCR and molecular based assay
• Experience with sample management and ELN/LIMS systems.
• Experience working with pluripotent/hematopoietic stem cells.
• Knowledge of automation tools

 

Contract Length: 6 month with a chance of extension.

 

Pay Range

$32/hr. - $33/hr.

Monday - Friday
