Job Description

Vertex Pharmaceuticals is seeking an experienced Analytical Development Scientist to support both internal laboratory efforts and external CDMO activities. This position plays a critical role in analytical method execution, data review, and cross-functional CMC collaboration, supporting early-phase clinical development for protein therapeutics.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Execute internal laboratory testing for potency, impurity, and bioassay assays using established methods
  • Conduct internal inventory tracking and manage material shipments
  • Support CDMO method development and qualification efforts
  • Review analytical method data, protocols, and reports provided by CDMOs
  • Contribute to the preparation of internal and external presentations for cross-functional CMC stakeholders
  • Perform regulatory filing data verification and ensure data accuracy and integrity
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams such as Process Development, Quality, and Regulatory Affairs

Required Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field
  • Minimum 5+ years of laboratory experience in developing and executing bioassays (academic experience acceptable; industry preferred)
  • Prior experience in Analytical Development or CMC within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry
  • Experience supporting FIH clinical programs

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong understanding of bioassay design and execution principles
  • Working knowledge of regulatory and ICH guidelines relevant to analytical method development
  • Ability to critically analyze and review technical documentation and data packages
  • Strong communication skills and ability to present findings to cross-functional teams
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management capabilities

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with U/HPLC, capillary electrophoresis (CE), or mass spectrometry (MS)
  • Previous experience serving as an Analytical Lead on CMC programs

Contract Duration: 6 month with an opportunity for extension  

Pay Range

$59/hr. - $71/hr.

Monday-Friday
