Job Description

The Analytical Development Senior Research Associate performs a variety of well-defined support functions and performs analytical procedures as outlined by their supervisor. The Analytical Development Senior Research Associate will support the goals and timelines for the Analytical Development team through timely completion of assay development projects, demonstrate excellent documentation skills and will be responsible for specific lab or department service functions.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities          

  • Participate in the planning of experiments and performs experiments following established methodologies and procedures with minimal supervision.
  • Performs initial data review of experimental results and interprets immediate outcomes and/or conclusions within established protocols.

  • Troubleshoots routine technical problems and performs routine equipment maintenance
  • Maintains accurate records of experiments and results in an electronic laboratory notebook.
  • Demonstrates the ability to present results in both oral and written reports.
  • Complies with applicable SOPs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Experience analyzing samples using HPLC, GC, UV-VIS, KF, and other instruments. Experience with HPLC is preferred.
  • Knowledge of organic structure, functional groups, chemistry, and API process development is a plus.
  • The ability to conduct experiments independently following established methodology and procedures with minimal supervision is essential.
  • The ability to work successfully in both a team/matrix environment is essential.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as demonstrated by symposia presentations and research publications in peer reviewed journals are required.
  • Demonstrate independent reasoning, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills

Required Educational Level

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree (or equivalent degree) in Biology, Chemistry, or equivalent and 3+ years of experience
  • In some cases, an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related academic/vocational experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role

Preferred Experience

  • Knowledge and hands-on experience with analytical method development (e.g. characterization, release assays)

Working Environment:

  • This is an onsite position at our San Diego site.
  • Able to work upright and stationary and/or standing for typical working hours.  
  • Able to use and learn standard office equipment and technology with proficiency.  
  • Able to perform successfully under pressure while prioritizing and handling multiple projects or activities. 

Pay Range

$42-$52/hr
